One of my favourite rooms in the Vatican Museums was the map room:

This photo was taken from a tiny village called Ravello, which is perched high above the town of Amalfi in southern Italy. The view is out towards Minori. We stayed in what was probably one of my favourite hotels/apartments in the world in Ravello, Villa San Cosma. This holiday to Italy is definitely one of my all time favourites so far… I have been to a number of places over the last year (Cuba, Zimbabwe, Morocco, India, Mozambique), so that is saying something quite significant! I had a fantastic travelling companion which might have contributed the most to my enjoyment of the place. I also enjoyed the richness of the culture and history, the simple but delicious food, the great coffee and wine. The weather was great and the place unselfconsciously beautiful. The photos speak for themselves, and are on flickr. My recommendations for hotels and restaurants are on TripAdvisor.
